The group of policemen who were arrested for allegedly stealing goods during a raid on foreign nationals on Johannesburg CBD, last week, will remain behind bars until their next court appearance.
The suspects appeared at Johannesburg Magistrates Court, handcuffed, for corruption and defeating the ends of justice.
They appeared in court along with undocumented foreign nationals who were sent to a repatriation centre on the West Rand, EWN reported.
“The first pair accused were facing charges of defeating the ends of justice and their matter was postponed to Tuesday. The five accused that came before the court was facing charges of defeating the ends of justice, corruption and their matter have been postponed to 19 August for a formal bail application,” Chief prosecutor Phumeza Futshane told EWN.
