Durban police are calling on the public to assist them in finding a local taxi driver who apparently stabbed his ex-lover to death in front of her family.
Mbalenhle Cele, 24, was murdered, in her bed, in front of her relatives in Inanda last Wednesday. IOL news reported that the suspect went to the woman’s home, pushed her ill grandmother out of the way before stabbing her repeatedly. He fled the scene soon after the attack.
The incident that happened in front of the woman’s family has left them traumatised and broken, said a relative.
Sthe Nyanda, the woman’s cousin, said on Facebook: “The animal who killed my baby cousin is Sbusiso Dlamini, a taxi driver from kwaBesta to kwamashu, taxi No.58. He shoved my 70-year-old granny and left her unconscious on the floor, stabbed my aunt and walked into my cousin’s room before stabbing her to death.”
According to Nyanda, Cele had previously alerted her that someone was trying to kill her and that she needed to move from her home.
“My cousin was brutally murdered in her own bed, by her ex-boyfriend that has been abusing her, even after she got a protection order against him. She sent me a message on Friday saying she fears her life is in danger, and last Wednesday the guy walked into my home and stabbed her to death. Sbusiso fled the scene, and knowing the justice system in Durban he will not be found,” she added.
The suspect who is known to the family and the community has not been caught at this stage and is still on the run. A case of murder has been opened and police are currently investigating the incident. An update on this story will be posted soon.
