Yellowwood Primary School in Durban, held a memorial service on Thursday, for two learners who were brutally killed by their father, last week.
Several poems and letters were read out during the tribute programme. The gathering was attended by more than 100 people who include learners, teachers, parents, and members of the community.
Thabiso and Khwezi Mkhize, along with their mother Bongekile Tenza and older sister Fazeka, were all gunned down in their Montclair home, last Wednesday.
Sandile Mkhize, after killing his family, later pulled the trigger on himself.
According to reports, the five bodies were discovered by a relative who visited the home, after not being able to reach the family.
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in a public statement said they are saddened by the tragic news of Tenza and her family.
The local mother worked at a Durban court and joined the judiciary as an acting Magistrate in July 2008. In 2016 she was permanently appointed as a Magistrate.
Durban police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
